Special Events
Celebrating community, faith, and fellowship at St. Mary's Episcopal Church
Blessing Box
A new way to serve our neighbors in Waynesboro.
St. Mary's now has a Blessing Box. Thanks to the carpentry skills of parishioner David Green, the handsome repository for food and miscellaneous donations was installed in June. On Sunday, June 23, Father Casey blessed the Blessing Box with a special liturgy before the 10:30 service.
Parades
Waving the flag and welcoming neighbors.
St. Mary's was visible on the Memorial Day parade route and again on July 4, handing out water and candy to passersby. We had visitors peek inside the sanctuary and chatted with our neighbors — a wonderful opportunity to connect with the broader Waynesboro community.
Parish Picnic
St. Mary's held their annual parish picnic at Rotary Park on August 4, 2024. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and fellowship while celebrating Eucharist together.
Bishop Scanlan's Visit
Bishop Audrey Scanlan celebrated Eucharist and confirmed/received two members of St. Mary's on May 12. The Bishop received Joan and confirmed Debra after the Sunday School led a procession. We also enjoyed music from Marlin Barnes on marimba and Jane Birt on the cello.
Community Service Fair
Saturday, September 9 — 2023 & 2024
A beloved tradition of outreach in Waynesboro.
Thanks to all for making the Service Fair another successful outreach to the community. St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Waynesboro Community Services, New Hope Shelter, Jesus Alive Ministries, and Main Street eagerly sponsored the affair. We were blessed with good weather and plenty of shade along Memorial Park's tree-lined Walk.
